WWW Wednesdays Feb 6

It’s Wednesday again! We know what that means.

The meme comes from shouldbereading, and all you have to do is answer these questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? and What are you planning to read next?

matchbox girls covercurrently reading

  • Matchbox Girls by Chrysoula Tzavelas – barely started, no real thoughts yet. I’m excited for it though 🙂
  • Homer, Iliad bk 1 – slow going, my Greek is rusty. Made it up to line 68 so far.

recently finished

  • The Serpent Sea by Martha Wells – so good! I will post a more complete review soon, but I highly recommend the books of the Raksura (Cloud Roads, The Serpent Sea, The Siren Depths) to anyone who likes sci-fi/fantasy.
  • The Siren Depths by Martha Wells – I wasn’t really intending to read The Siren Depths immediately after The Serpent Sea… but then I couldn’t resist. Now I want more books about Jade and Moon and the others, and I don’t think there are any… I will probably end up re-reading this series.

plan to read next

This hasn’t changed from last week:

  • SFF: probably Palimpsest by Catherynne Valente
  • crime/thriller: either Double Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, or the second Castle book
  • historical fiction: probably The Eagle’s Daughter by Judith Tarr
  • in French: probably Molière, Le misanthrope
  • classics: I’m still technically in the middle of Dracula, I should probably finish that
  • poetry: 100 Love Sonnets by Pablo Neruda

I am kind of impressed with myself too haha… thought it might be one of those good resolutions that never actually happens. But I don’t get a lot of chances to practice any of my non-English languages, and I would hate to lose them. Reading the newspapers is a good idea!
